Antique 19th Century Papier Mache Tray Bronze Handle Circa 1830 Grand Tour
This wonderful decorative green Papier Mache lacquered tray dates to the early 19th century, circa 1830, not to be confused with the later Victorian black versions. It is offered in a most delicious shade of green; it simply exudes the grandeur of the early 19th century French country chateau.
To the center of the tray we find a large hand painted floral scene, the edges of the tray feature a gold border with flowers and foliage. The tray has an ornate bronze handle; we particularly like the two leaves to the center.
Measuring 9 7/8 (25 cm) by 9 7/8” (25 cm).
Condition: There is some stable cracking to the surface of the tray. There is a 1" chip on the reverse edge of the tray and some minor chips where the handle joins the tray. One of the bronze handle terminals is an old replacement.
This is a wonderfully decorative item that will display perfectly in a modern or period interior.
