This is an excellent example of a Georgian era high quality embossed face screen produced by Henry Dobbs of London. This luxurious paper face screen was produced circa 1825 and features a wonderful three dimensional moulded paper surround (very much reminding us of the wonderful wood carvings of Grinling Gibbons). The central rectangular reserve features a detailed pencil drawing of an 18th century English street scene. The screen is complete with its original turned gilt wood handle. To the bottom left corner under the pencil drawing we find the embossed makers mark 'DOBBS'. Please see out other Dobbs face screen shown in last image that is retailed separately.
Measuring: Width 9 1/8 inch (23 cm) by height 15.5 inch (39.5 cm). Depth 0.5 inch (1.5 cm).
Condition: Minor bumping to some of the edges of the paper surround. There is a minor water mark to a small section of the surround at 8 o clock. There are two sections missing from the thin gold frame of the pencil drawing. A small fine stable split to the back of the handle.
