Antique Early 19th Century Painted Silhouette Gorgeous Period Folk Art Frame Regency Circa 1815
We are delighted to offer this very small and handsome early 19th century painted silhouette. This side facing profile of a Regency period gentleman was painted circa 1810 to 1820. This dandy looking gent has a typical Regency period hair style, complete with tall coat collar and ruffled neck tie or stock; very much a follower of the Beau Brummell fashion. This handsome chap was painted upon paper, you can see the slightly thick powdery texture of the black paint. Housed behind replacement glass but within an original Georgian reeded frame (one of our favorite types from this period). This Regency gent is ready to enhance your period silhouette collection.
Size: Frame 4" (10 cm) by 5" (12.5 cm), actual silhouette sight 2 3/8" (6 cm) by 3.5" (9 cm).
Condition: The paper ground has some faded patches and an old damp stain in the top left corner. The frame has general age rubbing to the ebonized surface seen to the edges. We have not opened this silhouette.
