Antique Early 19th Century Coalport Porcelain Cup Empire Shape Circa 1820 AF
This is a decorative example of an Empire Shape porcelain cup produced by Coalport in England at the beginning of the 19th century circa 1820. This well-proportioned cup features a high loop handle with the Coalport distinct knob inside the rim. We particularly like the richly gilded handle, it just screams quality. The interior of the cup features extensive gilt decoration on a rich green ground separated by hand painted floral sprays on a clean white porcelain background. To the base of the cup we find the pattern number.
Measuring: Diameter without handle 3” (7.5 cm). Diameter with handle 3.75” (9.5 cm). Height 2 5/8” (7 cm).
The cup is in good condition but sadly is not perfect. The hand painted design is bright and crisp. The gilding is bright and crisp with only minor wear around the foot of the handle and the base foot rim. There is also, as seen in our image - various nibbled chips to the foot rim.
This Coalport cup is English porcelain at its finest, an attractive addition to your early porcelain collection.
