This is an exceptionally beautiful 1850 dutch watercolor painting by a world known listed artist that has been professionally matted and framed by a top quality English arts guild. We were instantly enchanted by this splendid 19th century watercolor of a pair of young lovers which was very much influenced by the 18th century paintings of Watteau or Lancret. It's timeless romantic theme making it the perfect artwork to display anywhere within your home....or making it the perfect romantic gift for that special person.
This highly detailed and highly decorative oval watercolor on paper was painted by the well known Dutch genre artist Herman Frederik Carel Ten Kate. He was born in The Hague on the 16th of February 1822 and died on the 26th of March 1891. During the late 1830s Kate studied under Cornelis Kruseman and a little later exhibited in France. He is renowned for his oil on boards, watercolors and drawings. See his work held in permanent collection at Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam
