Dating to the 1890-1900 period this delicious pair of Victorian boots are made from soft, supple caramel colored leather with very fine stitching and the original leather covered wood heels, they almost look like they were carved from wood! In our opinion they are THE BEST on Ruby Lane and you will adore them.
They have leather soles and leather bases to the heel, complete with original brass nails. They are calico lined and have their original leather tongues. One boot has the maker or retailer's gold printed mark to the inner Baird Co Ltd. Shreveport. LA. Numbers 382 and 81697 are also printed in black to the inside.
Size : Height 10.5" (27 cm) length 10" (25.5 cm) heel height 2 7/8" (7 cm).
Condition: Very good indeed for their 120 plus years. There is a slight scuff to the leather on one of the heels. The leather sole has come adrift a little where it curves up before curving under the inner heel on each boot. There is evidence of glued reattachment at this point. One outer area of heel has a small area of darkening to the leather. A couple of the brass nails are missing to each leather heel tip. There is some drying and scuffing to the leather lining around the inner neck of each boot, not at all noticeable on display.
