Antique 19th Century Royal Worcester Coffee Can Demitasse Cup Aesthetic Movement Bamboo Handle 1881
This is an excellent example of a fine piece of English porcelain produced by the world famous Royal Worcester. This coffee can was produced by Royal Worcester in 1881 as shown by the date stamp on the base, this period falls within the Aesthetic Movement when more naturalistic designs were popular. The pattern depicted on this cup is unusual as it is clean and less cluttered than some similar patterns from the period. We see small cornflowers upon a cream blush ground. The buttery gilding is superb.
Measuring: Diameter 2 3/8”. Diameter with handle 3 2/8”. Height 2.5”, demitasse size for strong black coffee.
This coffee can is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. The design is crisp, the gilding is very good. There is a tiny thin firing fault line on the foot rim, very minor and does not in any way detract from the appeal. This is an attractive and unusual coffee can that would enhance any porcelain collection.
