Antique French Ormolu Photo Frame Circa 1860 Stunning
We are delighted to offer this superb little Second Empire period photograph frame. This is an exceptionally beautiful and original example from the Napoleon III period - this is not a later reproduction.
Dating from the 1860-70 period the quality of casting is superb. This is a substantial little frame that has survived well and is testament to its quality craftsmanship. We see an oval shape with ribbon swag and Laurel wreath to the top. The inner and outer beaded design is superb and the green cotton velvet inner mat just sooo attractive. This oval frame comes complete with original easel back stand, top suspension loop and inner glass. We have placed a pretty image of a young Queen Victoria inside, but of course you can choose your own image for display.
Size: 5.25" by 3.5". Inner oval aperture 2.25" by 1.75". Weight 4.9 oz (138 g)
Condition: We are delighted to report that this example is all original, not cleaned or polished. The ormolu is a little dulled with age and the green velvet mat has some wear as one would expect but nothing that detracts from the beauty and originality of this gorgeous piece. If like us, you appreciate the beauty of antiques that are gently infused with faded grandeur then we guarantee that you will appreciate this wonderful, genuine 19th century frame.
