A sweet grouping of Victorian, circa 1860 ambrotype/ tintype photographic images in the 1/9th scale. All three have gently tinted details to the either their cheeks or the lady's green ribbon. These small size beauties are housed each with their original gilded metal mat and behind old glass. The gilt metal inner frame is also beautifully embossed on each.
The two single frames depict a father and son as both have matching frames/ mounts and both were obviously taken in the same studio setting, each sat upon the same chair, next to the same occasional table. The cased example of the lady was purchased as part of this grouping and so we assume was part of the same family. She wears a pretty tartan or plaid dress with undersleeves, matching cuff bracelets and a ribboned bonnet. All of these details again pointing to the 1850-60 period in fashion.
Size: The three frames measure near enough the same just under 3" by 2.5".
Condition is very good. There is some minor surface wear to all of the frames, we have not cleaned or waxed them. The cased lady has retained her original closure, the father and son have retained their metal hangers. The photographic images are in good order, just very minor aging to the top of the father and son at 11 and 1 o'clock.
This is a super grouping for your display. They would work well with miniature watercolors, silhouettes or folk art.
