Georgian Colored Engravings John Fairburn Circa 1794 Country Pursuits
We are delighted to present this scarce pair of George III period engravings. This original pair of hand colored engravings depict two hunting scenes. Their small size and original frames make them absolutely delightful. They truly breathe a breath of 18th century country air in to any home......
John Fairburn was a printer and publisher of cheaper caricatures and popular prints. He also retailed and printed maps, charts and books for the more general public. He traded from 146 Minories, London between the dates 1789 to 1808. It is amazing that this pair have survived.
Size: Frame 7.5" by 6" approx. Visible engraving 6 1/8" by 4.5"
Condition: Housed within their original softwood frames. The glass is not the original and the backs have been tidied. The original top suspension hangers have long ago been removed. The painted frames have plenty of original surface wear and a shrinkage gap to the bottom right corner, perfectly stable. The original engravings on laid paper have been trimmed within plate marks to fit their frames.
