Victorian Scottish Malachite Sterling Silver Brooch LOVELY Quality Circa 1880
This is a very, very substantial Victorian brooch that is definitely not of inferior quality!! This gorgeous item of jewelry dates from the 1880's and is most likely Scottish in origin. Queen Victoria and the late Prince Albert, took Scotland to their hearts. They had a holiday getaway at Balmoral and there after all things Scottish became sooooo fashionable, including agate/ hard stone Jewelry.
Our large flower shaped example is unmarked as was common at this period but is definitely silver. It weighs 1.1 oz and measures 2.25" diameter. It comes complete with its original tube hinge and C clasp and a silver safety chain.
Condition - This is over 100 years old and has a lovely smooth patina to the malachite. There is a teeny nibble possible natural flaw to the edge of one petal but nothing too serious.
A stunning item of antique jewelry...a wonderful gift. This looks fabulous on a winter's coat.
