Early 19th Century Georgian Porcelain Spoon Set Meissen Style Birds and Insects Circa 1810 AF Make Do Repair

A wonderfully decorative set of four small porcelain spoons that date from the late 18th, start of the 19th century. Please be aware that sadly this set of four have been historically broken and repaired by way of metal collars; this happened a VERY long time ago. Their unusual repair adding to their story and allowing them to survive their clumsy mishap. They are absolutely delightful and will enhance any early 19th century porcelain collection. It would be wonderful to see them framed. See them displayed on our wonderful 18th century German Hochst plate!!

Drinking tea, coffee and chocolate was highly fashionable during this period. Small spoons were also produced to accompany their matching mustard pots.

Made from pure white porcelain, each small spoon is hand painted in polychrome enamels and no maker's mark can be found on these minuscule examples. Their exotic bird and insect depictions very fashionable form the mid 18th century until the start of the Regency period. Such naturalistic depictions were originally used by Meissen and then copied by several porcelain factories such as Frakenthal Porcelain Factory, The Royal Porcelain Factory Berlin (KPM) and also early Worcester porcelain to name but a few.

Size: 4.25" (10.5 cm)

Condition: As previously mentioned sadly not perfect. The gilding is a little worn in places. All spoons are free from cracks or nibbles: but, of course they have each been broken and repaired by way of metal collar that was over painted white to match the porcelain. The old over painting to their metal collar has yellowed with age.
