Miniature Ichimatsu Doll Boxed 3" Tall Circa 1900
This is a very cute little fellow that was produced in Japan at the end of the Victorian period. This small 3" tall fellow was most likely brought back by a tourist. Can you believe that he has remained in his original box ever since. Yes, this cutie comes not only dressed in his original silk kimono but also in his very handsome original box with mottled metallic paint decoration.
Measuring just 3" tall, his head is gofun covered (powdered eggshell) with glass eyes and hand painted open mouth. He has a taufling/ paper wrapped body with flexible wooden legs and arms.
Condition - His face is a little grubby but please do not attempt to clean gofun as it is incredibly delicate and will not withstand any moisture. His right side real black hair tuft has been replaced with a black feather. He has a missing tuft of hair to his crown as evident by the small hole. An easy fix if so desired.
