19th Century French Reversible Mirror Dog Shepherdess Scene Circa 1890
A super little French treasure that is SOOOO functional and is actually two antiques fro the price of one. This small reversible mirror dates from the Art Nouveau period of 1890 -1900. To one side we see an ornately carved wooden frame and to its center a pressed brass relief scene of a pretty country maiden, perhaps milkmaid with her faithful dog at her feet. The detail is very good and very charming. One turns this piece over to reveal the mirrored reverse.
Measuring 9 1/8" by 7.25".
Condition is very good indeed. Super coloring and patination. This piece retains its original metal suspension chain and loop. The mirror is THE original with its lovely signs of aging ( called distress in the trade).
A super little antique to hang in a small space, bedroom, ensuite or cloakroom. Of course World postage is already included in our price!!
