A splendid little late 18th century reverse painted silhouette pendant. This tiny little side profile portrait was reverse painted on a tiny glass sheet. The background then applied in real gold foil. Most likely German or French in origin, we see a handsome young gentleman in typical 18th century clothing with hair in the very fashionable 'en queue' ponytail with ribbon.
Housed within a gilt metal, pretty beaded frame with glazed back panel which presently contains a fragment of 18th century woven silk. Complete with top bail and loop this Georgian treasure is ready to wear or hang in your period doll's house.
Size.1.75" tall (4.3 cm) by 1 2/8" (2.9 cm)
Condition: Good unopened condition. A small area of damp blooming to the gold foil eglomise background, seen clearly in our many images just above the gents head, and just below his base outline (very minimal).
