This small, slightly coif shaped cap has such a delicate design to it. Most likely made for a young lady (it is too small to fit our glass display head), its fineness and sheer elegance is a joy to behold. Dating from the 1820 period we adore the understated simplicity of style. The entire net ground embellished with open flowers and teeny buds. Our favorite embroidered detail is the center seem that runs from the crown to the nape of the neck, we see a scalloped design punctuated with little spots. At the base of the beck the remains of the original silk ribbon drawstring.
Size: 6" from the tip of the chin point to the nape of the neck. 7" from the nape of the neck to the top of the crown. 6.5" from the top of the crown to the slightly pointed center of the forehead.
Condition is very good. There is a small hole to the left side near the crown. Otherwise condition is clean and sound.
