We are delighted to offer this very fine bone china tea cup from the first third of the 19th century. Although unmarked as was so common at this period, this single cup has the hallmarks of a fine English porcelain factory.
This footed bute shape cup has the purest white bone china body with a very attractive divided handle with scalloped top. This scalloped top has gilt decoration with a lower narrow gilt band to match the wider gilt band on the foot. To each side of the cup we see different hand painted scenes. To the front we see a couple in the foreground of a ruin (very romantic/ enlightenment period). To the rear a lady can be seen in front of a lake with country church and mountains beyond.
Size: 2.5" by 3.25" diameter at the top and base diameter of 1.5".
Condition: Very good with minor rubbing to the top gilding. Three small surface scratches to the church painted scene....very small and mentioned for accuracy.
