Here is a lovely, early Taxco, Mexico 980 Sterling necklace. The chain is 1/2” wide and is set with richly colored amethysts with high domes. The stones are 7mm. The whole necklace is covered in very detailed granular, cannetille work.
The center portion dangles 1 1/2” and has a 14mm amethyst stone in the center. It is marked on back, Taxco 980 and Lopez. I don’t know if this is an early mark of Gerardo Lopez. I estimate the necklace to be from the late 1930’s to early 1940’s. It weighs 54.9 grams.
