This amazing sterling silver camphor glass necklace with US Army Eagle/Great Seal of the US is a very collectible World War II sweetheart, or homefront piece. It is opaque clear, the pink in the picture is reflection from my hand, please see all pictures. These are usually worn in to honor of a loved one in the service or veteran. This beautiful Art Deco style sterling silver and camphor pendant with ornate filigree floral style pendant is quite large at 1 and ½ inches tall and 1 and 1/8 inches across. The pretty camphor glass has a frosted finish with a radiating star burst or sun ray reverse carved pattern. There are 4 pretty ornately stylized prongs that hold the camphor glass securely in place. In the center of the pendant is the Army insignia/emblem. The eagle center is riveted through the camphor glass; it does not move about sideways, and hangs straight, is very firmly set. It is marked sterling on the back. The paperclip style sterling chain is 18 inches long. It is a fine chain and has the older thumbless clasp, marked Sterling. The sterling silver has a warm, age appropriate vintage patina. This marvel is in excellent condition for its age. A beautiful piece of history, it is just as appropriate today as back then, meant to be worn proudly!
