This is a very old piece of American pewter.
It is very thick and appears commercial grade so we believe it was for a hotel or restaurant. Probably a cocktail tray.
It has had extensive use.
There are some interesting imprints on the front of the tray. We tried to capture them in the photos. They are nearly worn away. The imprints appear to be Eagles surrounded by stars. You can only see the wing tips and some stars. There are 4 of them.
On the back, on the rim is marked "BOSTON". Very lightly is the makers mark. It is difficult to read. It may be "A. CLENY & CO." but that is just a guess and cannot be found on the internet.
Neat piece of history with real shabby chic appeal.
