This is a beautiful leather box hand made in Italy in the 1950's.

Superb extremely RIGID leather. I am not sure how they can make leather so hard. It is almost like wood. It is cured just right to make it extremely rigid so that this box is a substantial piece.

Everything in and on the box (except the gilding!) is genuine leather. There is not a wood frame, there are no hinges (the leather acts as a hinge). it is pure and 100% Italian Leather!

It weighs over 4 lbs empty!

The box has a wonderful patina and has gilded designs on the lid and on the lower edge of the box.

You can see how large this box is in the photo with the 3 wine bottles.

13 1/4" long

10 wide

3 5/8" deep

Marked "Made in Italy" as shown.

This could be a man's vanity box or humidor.

The condition is excellent with no dried or cracked leather. It has some marks as shown including a mark from a beverage glass. These show much more prominent in the photos than in reality and we have NOT tried to clean them off. Leather cleaner may take them out.

This is a truly beautiful and rare piece. We have had it for over 10 years. I have used it for my "treasure box" for everything from photos, pocket knives, old passports, foreign currency, silver and more. It is quite rare in this size and this wonderful condition.
