1820 Horn Snuff Box Napoleon Hat Bicorne with Inscription
The inscription reads, 'Napoleon A St Helene'. Napoleon sitting on a rock looking out to sea is pressed into the horn on the front of this bicorne shaped snuff box. It is dated to 1820 shortly after his abdication and exile when all kinds of commemorative pieces were made in France.
It measures 3 inches by 2 inches by 1 inch.
It is in excellent condition. There are no cracks or splits. His face was the highest point on the front of the box and almost two hundred years of usage have almost smoothed away his features. His hand is inside his military tunic and he has a sword by his side.
On the reverse is an inlaid representation of a French cockade which Napoleon wore in his hat.
