A fabulous French Fashion Doll Accessory. It is a Palais Royal thimble and scent bottle etui or case.
It measures 2 3/4 inches by 1 1/2 inches by 2 inches high.
In 1850 celluloid was invented. It was the wonder material of that age and precious objects such as this one were made from celluloid. The central divider of the outer cylinders is guilloche celluloid in burgundy red. The handle is a romantic piece representing interlocking hearts. The etui hinges and clasp are in excellent working order. The etui stands on four ball feet.
The interior is lined in pink silk. A French silver thimble sits on its pedestal and beside it is a silver top crystal scent bottle. The lid of the scent bottle has had some repair work. The hinge works and it opens and closes easily. The original crystal stopper is in place. The faceted crystal glass bottle is free from chips or cracks or flea bites. The underside is lined in red silk. The silk lining is all intact but slightly faded due to the etui being displayed in the open position by its proud owner.
