A Rare Pair of 1850 Thimble Holder Owls Hand Carved from 5000 Year Old Irish Bog Oak.
They are 3 inches high. The base diameters are 1 3/4 inches. The small thimble is 7/16th of an inch in diameter. The larger one is 9/16th of an inch in diameter.
This pair of hand carved owls are in fabulous condition. They both have their original eyes. Each holds a thimble underneath the lift of head. One thimble is silver and represents a stylized owl which suggests it is original to the thimble holder. The other thimble is brass and has the name Abel Morall engraved on it.
The heads fit tightly to the body and will not fall off. You can also offset the head to the body alignment to make them more interesting and owl like.
