Goerz were the first to use prism lens in opera glasses. The prism lens configuration necessitated the unusual shape. They are gold plated with snake skin barrels. The lenses are the best of any opera glasses made then or since. Zeiss bought over the Goerz Company in the 1920 so that they could acquire the lens technology.
