An interesting antique ladies pince nez with a lapel button winder by Ketcham and McDougall of New York. The button is dated 1910 and the patent was issued in 1903.
The frames or chain are not marked. The material is rolled gold on metal frames.
These are quite ingenious as they will hang nicely on your lapel until you need them and then you just pull the chain free from the button and place them on your nose. The cork pads on the nose pieces easily grip and hold them in place. When you are finished with them, just give a slight tug and the button will wind up the chain and the pince Nez will sit easily on your lapel. If the lenses do not suit your eyes, an optician can easily replace them with your own prescription lenses.
The full script on the reverse of the button is as follows:
Ketcham and Mc Doughall New York. April 6 1910. Patent # February 24 1903.
The button is attached with a C clasp and pin.
The pince nez and button are in excellent condition and ready to wear.
