Hand Crocheted using vintage components of iris (purple) Czech glass, Swarovski crystal, dyed freshwater pearls and large glass seed beads with self clasp
Necklace length – 20.5"; width – 0.44"; weight 72 grams
Most of the beads came from a collection I purchased many years ago.
The individual beads were strung in a pattern on cotton crochet thread and then crocheted into the necklace. The pattern looks like a spiral. It is soft to the touch and drapes easily.
When I make a piece of jewelry, I try, when possible, to use the beads I have to make a clasp. If I can't, I try to find beads that complement the piece. In that way the clasp enhances rather than detracts from the jewelry. Sometimes, I wear the clasp in front instead of hiding in back. I did this when creating this necklace. It happens to be a favorite of mine.
