For auction is this MARVEOUS vintage Tynietoy doll house settle. This is Tynietoy catalog number 474 "Fireplace Settle- c. 1740." This is a seat meant to be set before a fire that could also be used as a table. This was made by Tynietoy somewhere between the 1920s-mid 1940s. This item came from the now closed Santa Monica doll Museum in California.
This table is in very good condition and is painted plain white with no painted decoration. This measures 4"x 4" across the top, and 2.75" tall. It is made of two pieces with the top able to be tipped back as shown. It has the Tynietoy incised mark on the bottom.
Provenance & History: Tynietoy was founded by two women in the early 1920s. Their dollhouse furniture and accessories were hand made and based on historically accurate details. When the owners died in 1940 and 1947 some stock was sold until 1952 when Tynietoy closed its doors. The unsold items, in varying states of production from finished to unfinished were put away in storage. These were then sold at auction in the 1980s, and were purchased by the owners of a dollhouse museum in California where they remained in boxes until the owners passed and the pieces were put up for sale. I was fortunate enough to purchase a wide range of these rare Tynietoy pieces, as well as other rare items from the museum that I will be selling.
