For sale is this MARVEOUS vintage Tynietoy Victorian spool vanity table. This was made by Tynietoy somewhere between the 1920s-mide 1940s. This item came from the estate of the now closed Angel's Attic Santa Monica doll Museum in California. The owners of the museum acquired the unsold stock from the Tynietoy company some time after it closed its doors in 1952, and these have been in storage ever since!
This is Tynietoy catalog number 514 "Spool Stand. Black walnut or maple finish, also painted green". It has lovely spool detail, and the drawer opens. This is in excellent condition. The table measures 3" tall x 1.5" deep x 2.2" wide. It is unmarked.
Provenance & History: Tynie toys was founded by two women in the early 1920s and continued until about 1952. When the owners died in 1940 and 1947 some stock was sold until 1952 when Tynietoy closed its doors. The unsold items, in varying states of production from finished to unfinished were put away in storage. These were then sold at auction in the 1980s, and were purchased by the owners of a dollhouse museum in California where they remained in boxes until the owners passed and the pieces were put up for sale.
Many of the pieces I am selling are unpainted/stained, and those that are finished are as they were found. I HAVE NOT stained or painted any of the pieces, and they are exactly as they were when put in storage all of those years ago!
