For sale is this EXTREMELY rare piece by the preeminent animal sculptor Doris Lindner. According to the Royal Worcester Museum this model was only produced from 1950 to 1956 as a production piece for what later became the limited edition of "Galloping in Winter" which sells for between $3,000-$4,000. Linder was trying out different models making this a ONE OFF piece, and only a handful were produced. Linder's open and limited editions are very valuable, but since she reportedly re-used the materials for her original models finding a piece like this is very rare. This is hand signed in gold on the bottom, which is also highly unusual.
Doris Lindner was one of the foremost aclaimed artists and her Horses in their many variants are considered her best. Doris Lindner was born in Llanyre in Radnorshire, South Wales in 1896. She studied sculpture at St Martin’s School of Art in London, the British Academy in Rome and at Calderon’s Animal School in London
This piece is very large approx 15" tall x 13" and comes with the original custom wooden stand. The piece is in good condition, with a repair to one tail as shown.
