This is the first piece of Spratling jewelry that I have seen with natural Agates. These stones are stunning. The brooch is hallmarked with the Spratling hallmarks as you can see. The Agates are in the colors of rust, cream, banded grey, and shades of pale yellow and orange. The stones are carved into tulips. The sterling vase that holds the tulips is finely done. The brooch measures 2 5/8" X 2 1/2". One of the tulips has a sharp top edge, and the other two are rounded. At first I thought 2 were chipped. These are not chips, but rather the way the Agates were originally carved. Very minor chip on one rust tulip tip. Otherwise the brooch is in remarkable condition. Weight is 39.9 grms. I would date this wonderful brooch at c1940's.
