This example is a fantasy hatpin holder with Rose pattern decoration and a false RS Suhl with wreath mark on bottom. The mark is meant to encourage a potential buyer to make the mistake of identifying it as a Reinhold Schlegelmilch factory porcelain product, though of course it is not. The wreath mark shown is similar to an authentic 'RS Suhl' mark in which the letters, star and outer edges of the wreath are red; the inside of the wreath is green. However, in this new mark, the letter `L' is uppercase, with no period to follow. The old Schlegelmilch Suhl mark has a lower case 'l' with a period at the end.
While this piece is pretty and would certainly serve to hold a collection of old hat pins, don't buy something like it with the idea that one day its value will rise. Reproduction and fake porcelain bearing simulated Schlegelmilch porcelain factory marks have zero appeal to dedicated collectors of RS Prussia-type porcelain. The new fakes are poor in quality, with thick and clumsy bodies. They do not in any way compare to authentic R.S. marked porcelain which is thinly potted ware of extremely high quality.
