This example is a reproduction figural ceramic cookie jar that appears to have been created from a mold taken from an authentic plastic "F& F Mold and Die Co." canister from the 1950's. Like the originals, these new fakes fall into the classification of Black Americana. They are often referred to by sellers as either Uncle Remus or Uncle Mose.
The fact similar figural items are known to exist (in plastic) can make an item like this more likely to be mistaken for the 'real thing.' Add a bit of fictional 'wear' to new cold paint on the ceramic surface and this unmarked piece could seem like a good buy to an unwary buyer, especially if the price is much lower than they might expect to be asked to pay for a vintage piece.
This new reproduction cookie jar measures 11 1/2 inches tall by 6 inches wide
