Fossilized Ammonite Sterling Silver Wrapped Pendant Necklace
I love rocks; each stone is unique and quite remarkable in its own right. I travel all over the country looking for the prettiest and most interesting specimens I can find. I choose my cabochons based on the richness of color, design and beauty incorporated in the stone. They may cost a bit more, but to me it is totally worth it.
Ammonites are perhaps the most widely known fossil, possessing the typically ribbed spiral-form shell. These creatures lived in the seas between 240 - 65 million years ago, when they became extinct along with the dinosaurs.
A beautiful Fossilized ammonite pendant that I wrapped as simply as possible using cold forming techniques to keep the highlight on the beautiful stone. The pendant measures approximately 32x21mm (1 3/4" from top of bail) and comes complete with an 18'' Black Silicone Rubber 2mm Tubing Cord Necklace with Locking Clasp. The colors in Labradorite are not actually present in stone, rather they are the result of light play within the stone.

Metal forging has been used for centuries in forms such as that of blacksmithing. However, when used in jewelry it creates a delicate and interesting piece of wearable art. It is a technique that creates simple yet artistic lines and makes the stone the highlight using the wire to enhance instead of overwhelm the natural beauty of natures minerals.
