Fold Formed Copper Earrings
These Fold Formed Copper earrings were cut from a sheet of copper and annealed several times to be fold formed. The basic process of annealing is heating the metal with a torch allowing the metal properties to change which in turn makes it easier to bend. I folded down the metal and hammered the edge. I opened up the fold and hammered it flat. This process is done several times to achieve the desired results. Hammered and punch outs create a nice texture to the metal. Then I shaped, Oxidized, and added a lacquer to protect the metal. The earrings measure 1 3/4 inches with sterling silver ear wires. I also have these in 2 inch and 2 1/4 inch sizes.
