The only marking on this perfect old iron is a "4" and indeed it weighs four pounds.
It has a hand hammered appearance with a handle large enough to hold a hand and a pot holder. Although black, it has a reddish hue.
Its flat side is extraordinarily smooth and shaped almost as a perfect triangle.
It is 6" long and stands 4.5" high.
Of, course these irons have been put to many uses over the years, as paperweights, door stops, etc. This one sits up at a 45 degree angle and would make an excellent book end.
