What a great gift for the nature lover - an organic necklace! A whopping 74-inch necklace of seeds and just painstakingly re-strung on new cord. These wild tropical grass seeds resemble tears and are also known as Christ's tears, as well as other names. Said to have been gathered for centuries for food as well as jewelry making. They are interspersed with sections of a smaller and flatter seeds that I have not been able to identify.
Age is unknown, but they have been in my family for at least 30 years and may have been a tourist purchase in the 1970s. Job's Tears are still coated with their original turquoise paint. The smaller ones appear to have been dipped or polished in their natural dark brown color. Very unusual and a nice gift for the nature enthusiast.
