Home fashioned most likely from a pattern, the gorgeous dark red velvet dress fits the modern Barbie model perfectly. Two snaps in the back have been recently replaced. Hand stitching can be seen inside bodice where the selvage edge of the material has been turned down and used as facing. Measured from the back top to hem is 8-inches. Waist is 2-inches across or 4-inches total. Very good condition.
The pale pink gown is also a home-made creation from a popular Barbie pattern, fashioned in the late 1960's or 1970's. Bodice applique was recently applied to cover a small area of stitching holes where some sort of decoration had been applied earlier and lost. Matching appliques were also added near the hem. Under skirt is a dark pink satin. The bodice is also lined with the same satin. Instead of snaps this one has button holes and two new buttons. From the top of the back of the dress is 8-inches. Waist is 1-3/4" across or 3-1/2" total.
Probably made from a pattern, this stylish dress was a bit too tight for the modern Barbie model used for picture taking. Simply styled but with a very attractive light weight material of black and gold. While the lighter stripes appear beige or tan in the photos, they are actually a gold weave through the black. The third stripe is made up of single gold threads woven amid the black. Very pretty and in good condition. Two snap closure on the back in good working order. Measuring down the back the dress is 8-1/4 inches long and flares to a 12-inch hem around the bottom. Waist is 1-1/2 across or 3-inches total. Doll is not included.
