Popular mid-century guitarist Chet Atkins (1924-2001) was one of a handful of other musicians who produced a new smoother country music in the 1950's. Best known for his guitar, he had his own picking style that added a new dimension to country music that welcomed a new group of fans to a different style of music. Perhaps unsatisfied with this album, two years later Atkins re-recorded and released it with a different name and album title and lists himself as the producer. He was honored with several awards, among them 14 Grammy Awards, nine times CMA Instrumentalist of the Year, as well as three Hall of Fame honors.
