If you think those yummy Fritos are just for snacking with your lunch, think again. How about: Frito Egg Surprise, Scalloped Potatoes with Fritos, Chicken Con Fritos, Frito Sandwich Spread, or Frito Tamale Pie. And that’s just a few of the recipes listed in this little 31 page booklet published in 1947 by the Frito Co. in Dallas, TX. The Frito Co. began in 1932 with the purchase of a recipe for the corn chips. In a few years it had grown so much that the company expanded and moved to Dallas. Later the company merged with the H.W. Lay Co. of Atlanta and became Frito-Lay. Measures 5-inches by 6-3/4. One of two staples holding it together is missing. No stains or hand writing. Found in a box of recipe booklets that belonged to my grandmother.
