A favorite for high school and college students in the 1960's, pens like this one were commonly referred to as “School Pens.” Cartridges were so easy and quick to replace with no messy bottles necessary. You could carry an extra cartridge and change it any time. This one is completely cylindrical with blunt flat ends. Cap is chrome and clip is marked ‘Sheaffer’ stamped in a vertical line and is self-gripped to the barrel with no twisting. Closed it measures 4-7/8 inches. Has been flushed of dry ink and should be ready for use with a new cartridge.
