Borden’s famous cow “Elsie” presents Wej-Cut Cream Cheese on two of these pamphlets. After all, “If it’s Borden’s, it’s got to be good.” From the 1950's, two of the pamphlets feature recipes for Borden products: Wej-Cut Cream Cheese, Golden Whip, and Magnolia Sweetened Condensed Milk. Advertising for Wej-Cut Cream Cheese dates back to the early 1940's. This booklet was found online as having been published in 1945 and in 1950. Boasting four flavor varieties (chive, pimento, cream cheese, and relish), there are 15 pages of recipes for salads, lunch ideas, desserts and puddings. Measures 6-1/4 by 3-1/2.
Speed Recipes touts Borden’s Magnolia Sweetened Condensed Milk. Includes pies, cookies, custard, candy, salad dressing, frosting, ice cream and beverages. (Don’t miss the photo with the old fashioned ice-cream barrel.) And on the middle double page you can pick out your premiums. Check out the box camera, clamp-on roller skates and the old iron and toaster! This one measures 5 x 6 inches.
The single sheet for Borden’s Golden Whip (about 1970) was probably an advertising hand-out. No recipes here. But bright red and yellow advertising boasting a tamper-proof sanitary seal with 3 cups of whipped cream in each dispenser. Perfect for those who like to cook or advertising collectors.
