Unrelated to either of the famous American Dorsey band leaders, Jack Dorsey was born in Wales. He has several albums to his credit ranging from easy listening love tunes to hymns and religious music. This 1971 album released by Alshire Records and tagged as S-5232 includes the theme song from Paramount Pictures "Love Story" as well as several other songs popular more than 40 years ago.
His birth name was Handel Huckridge. After extensive music education, he began his career with a band playing cornet and trumpet. He also played in theater orchestras. In the early 1960's he formed his own band and arriving for a performance at a London salon found the stage manager had given him the name Jack Dorsey. And the name stayed with him. Here he conducts the 101 Strings Orchestra, with whom he enjoyed a 25-year partnership, as their conductor as well as composing many of their arrangements. Also includes colorful original paper sleeve advertising other Alshire records. Song titles can be seen in one of the photos. From my private collection, this LP has been cleaned, played for the first time in nearly 30 years and now approved for your listening pleasure. All records will be shipped in approved record mailers.
