Vintage 1970's Native American Incredible Santo Domingo Style Turquoise Necklace.
This is no doubt, the finest of turquoise necklaces. Comprised of round disc or tube shaped pieces of turquoise....graduated in size and simply strung into this incredible necklace in the Santo Domingo style. The turquoise is variegated in color (shades of aqua blue and green) along with natural matrix that is inherent to the stones. The necklace is embellished with four larger tear shaped discs at the front and center. Necklace is finished with small sterling spacer beads, fire engine red coral beads and a sterling spring ring clasp. Very weighty, substantial and high quality piece.
Necklace was originally finished with a squaw wrap at each end that was somewhat deteriorated. The necklace has been restrung (the squaw wrap removed) with the addition of a new sterling clasp closure.
Necklace measures 21 inches long by 5/8 inch wide at the front tapering to 5/16 inch wide near the clasp. The larger tear shaped discs at the front measure 1-1/8 inches long.
Necklace weighs 129.3 grams.
Excellent re-strung condition. Stunning!
