Vintage 1950's - 1960's Mexico Sterling Yalalag Wedding Cross Pendant Necklace
This is a beautiful and ornate piece which may easily be visualized worn with a lacy wedding gown and or possibly a mantilla. Comprised of and ornate oval link open work neck chain suspending an elaborate Yalalag or Wedding cross pendant.... embellished with cannetille decoration. The three ends of the cross are further embellished with attached smaller crosses that are movable and dangling. The center of the cross pendant is set with an oval green glass or dyed onyx stone. The attached bale is a cannetille ball design. Sterling silver cross and neck chain.
Neck chain is stamped sterling on the clasp (clasp has been replaced). Neck chain has been tested positive for sterling. Cross pendant is stamped or signed on the back Mexico 925 Taxco with the Eagle Mark 3.
Neck chain measures 20-1/2 inches long. Cross pendant measures 4 inches high (including attached bale) by 4 1/4 inches wide.
The entire necklace weighs .91 ozt (troy ounces) correct measurement for sterling or 28.5 grams.
