Vintage 1940's Mexico Sterling Dyed Green Onyx Large Mask Necklace.
This is a great piece made in Mexico in the 1940's for the tourist trade.......comprised of a sterling silver neck chain........linked together with sections that are set with domed marquise shaped pieces of dyed green onyx with raised bead design......suspending a large pendant piece set with a carved dyed green onyx mask or face. All the sections and the pendant are embellished with a fine twisted rope border edging. Wide hook and eye type clasp.
Necklace is signed Sterling Mexico on the clasp. Pendant piece is signed Sterling on the clasp.
Necklace measure 19 inches long...the marquise sections are 3/4 inch in width at the widest area at the beaded edge. Pendant piece measures 2 inches high by 1-3/4 inch wide.
Necklace weight is 1.96 ozt (troy ounces) correct measurement for sterling....or equivalent to 61.1 grams.
Excellent vintage condition. Aztec!
