Antique Early 1920's Transitional Period Faceted Amethyst Glass Stone Screw Back Drop Earrings.
These stunning and not often encountered earrings, are in a league of their own.....
This beautiful design is fashioned of a decoative post at the ear lobe embellished with a square cut amethyst (glass) stone, simply suspending a pendant piece that features a diamond shape amethyst colored (glass) stone, set in the center.
Being styled in what is referred to as the "Transitional Period" which was a short period in time, between the Edwardian and Art Deco design period.
Looking at the overall design of the earrings, we see an Art Deco shape.
Then again, looking at the application of the overlaid design, we see a nod to Edwardian / Victorian detail, as well as a rosy gold hue. Wonderful combination of design elements. Screw back style setting.
Box is for dispaly purposes and not included.
Earrings are unmarked. Base metal and or rolled gold plate / gold filled.
Earrings measure 1-1/2 inches long by just under 3/4 inch wide at the bottom.
Excellent Antique condition. Marvelous!
