17", the head mark is 125 (unknown).
This is a quality doll from an unknown maker. She has a solid dome flat top socket head with two stringing holes with the original string going through. The bisque head is very pale, with very finely executed lashes and brown feathered brows. Red nose and eye dots and a beautifully painted rosebud mouth with shading. Lovely blushed cheeks with no rubs. Her blue glass eyes are set stationary. There is a faint brown line on the top lash line of her right eye. This is not damage and was done in the making, probably a slip of the painters hand.
The body is the 9 piece wood and papier- mache Sonneberg type body with the straight wrists and protruding derriere.
This doll is all original according to her prior owner. She has a lambskin wig with ornamental headband, brass or copper earrings, gold dress with old pin, and a four piece matching underwear set. She also comes with her original gold socks and high top boots.
The outfit is sewn on, and I cannot even find a seam on the crocheted bodice , so I am not able to undress her. The skirt is made of a gorgeous silk and cotton blend with a velvet like finish that shimmers in the light. Her underwear consists of a slip and pantaloons, both with crocheted trim matching the dress bodice. She has another under slip and a chemise. All have darkened but there are no holes or rips. She wears golden beige socks and attractive lather boots with scalloped edges and brass buttons. The toes are worn. All the buttons are there but the top ones are not buttoned and I am afraid to force them. One heel is missing.
Condition:The head has been lit with a super bright light and there are no cracks, chips, or lines. The ears are pierced with no chips. The body appears very sturdy with the original finish. There is typical chipping around the neck opening, and one arm has lost two strips of paint. Her index finger on that same arm has the tip broken off. The outfit is very good for it's age. There are some horizontal shreds in the skirt fabric. I treated them with Fray Check and applied some acid free tape to the backs to help support the weight of the dress as the fabric is quite heavy.
