Code GK17A Pair of Early 1900s Hand Painted Bisque Figures
These beautifully painted bisque figurines are from the early 1900. The man and woman hold doves and envelopes, perhaps love letters. The woman's dove is perched in her overdress with an envelope, while his is in his hand waiting to be sent. The relief details of the flowers and gilded motifs are meticulously executed, and the facial details are very realistic. These two figurines appear to made by one of the production houses in Japan around 1920. They were making exquisite models similar to the 19th century French originals such as the famous Vion & Baury of Paris.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition with minor craquelure to areas of glaze. Minor rubs to paint with some old surface buildup.
