Recently removed from a French chateau, this pair of arched wrought iron gates was forged in the 1800’s. There are no modern welds on these gates, meaning that each piece of iron has been screwed, pegged, and banded together. The scrollwork is symmetrical, with square bronze protuberances in between stylized Fleur de Lys. A pair of volute scrolls, bound by a raised knop, forms the stalks of the flower. Both side “petals” are angled, while the middle section is formed by a vertical bar that runs from the base of the gates to the arch. The iron has developed a much-desired patina and would make fantastic entry gates to a garden, wine cellar entrance, or an interior courtyard.

CONDITION: Good antique condition, with wear commensurate to age and use, including buildup. Acceptable loss of paint, which has led to minor oxidation.

H - 74 3/8, W of left gate - 21 1/8, W of right gate - 21 1/4 (42 3/8 combined), D - 1 1/2
